Freedom of information

Any person may apply to SAPOL for access to documents held by them pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act 1991 (SA) (‘the FOI Act’).

If a person is unhappy with a determination made by SAPOL regarding a Freedom of Information (‘FOI’) request, they normally have a right to seek an internal review. Further rights of review and appeal exist either to the Office of the Police Ombudsman or to the District Court (time limits apply).

Requests for an external review should briefly explain that an external review is sought and include the SAPOL reference number for the request. Requests for review can be sent via post to:  Office of the Police Ombudsman GPO Box 464 Adelaide SA 5001
